2021 PGSL Phantom Summer Classic

This year’s annual Pleasanton Girls Softball League Phantom Summer Classic fastpitch tournament will be held on Fri. July 9 – Sun. July 11 at the Ken Mercer Sports Park, with some games at a smaller satellite location, Upper Bernal Fields.

Approximately 40 teams from all over the Bay Area are expected to participate in age divisions ranging from 8C - 12B.

Tournament Format and Covid Protocols

Alameda County and the City of Pleasanton have granted us permission to host the tournament using the usual format of 3 pool games on Friday - Saturday and single elimination games on Sunday. However, for the safety of employees and customers who may be unvaccinated, as of June 16, 2021, the City of Pleasanton is requiring that all spectators, coaches and players wear masks while on the premises, where city employees are physically present.

We interpret this to mean that face coverings should be worn by everyone while in the snack bar area (semi-enclosed), walking pathways, and restrooms where city employees are often present. Face coverings are not required for the players, coaches and umpires on the field, in the dugouts, or in the practice areas.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your cooperation on this matter. If this requirement is modified prior to July 9, we will communicate that information as soon as possible.

On Site Vendor Details 

We plan to have a full service snack bar on site (at the Adult Softball Complex) on both Saturday and Sunday.

We will also have our usual Tshirt vendor (G.I.C.Graphic Wear) on Saturday only. Be sure to stop by and check out the Phantom Summer Classi Tshirts and sweatshirts on Saturday before you leave.

Park Information 

Most games will be played in the Ken Mercer Sports Park, located at 5800 Parkside Dr, Pleasanton, CA.  Additional fields at Upper Bernal Park, located at 4645 Bernal Ave., Pleasanton will be used as needed.

No alcohol or barbecues are allowed in the Ken Mercer Sports Park and softball field complex.

At The Tournament

For verification purposes at the tournament, please be sure to bring  

  • Copies of birth certificates for each player 

  • Proof of team insurance and a

  • Hard copy of your official USA Softball roster
